American Football started out like rugby early on, but thanks to Walter Camp, the "Father of American Football", the sport and rules concerning football was transformed into the game we all know and love today.
As you already may know, football was not very popular in the beginning. However, today the chances of someone ordinary becoming an extraordinary football star is fairly high. This is because of salary caps, a system which prevents Football Teams from spending more money and therefore advancing their game. It helps to even things out so that everyone has a shot at the Super Bowl.
Many football fans pride themselves in the game they have grown up loving. It gained popularity around the country because of eye-catching ads, commercials, fan support, and the love of the game. It is very exciting and entertaining to watch, therefore drawing the attention of people, and providing the residents of America with a sense of thrill and adventure.
Unfortunately, another reason why Football is very popular in America is because of Gambling. People all around the world love to Gamble, a game in which a number of people bet money or other valuable items on the way they predict the game to turnout. While it starts with a bit of fun and friendly teasing, many tend to take it a little bit too far. It is quite easy to simply gamble over a game, but unfortunately, there is always someone who goes home rich, and another bankrupt.
Many people believe that Football will maintain its popularity for many years to come. However, it is commonly believed that football will soon see a decline in currency due to CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encelopathy), a head injury common in most football players. It is believed that this is due to concussions and can later cause irrational behaviors, and can even include suicidal thoughts and actions. Could it be that this sport loses fame because of its danger? Most likely not. In fact, many people think that these dangers will only increase its popularity, maybe even venturing worldwide.
If football is really a sport that appeals to those common couch potato's, then maybe it is time we found another way to like it. Perhaps it is better for our physical as well as our mental health to play it instead of watching it. This could mean finding yourself in the NFL, or just playing in your neighbors backyard. Whatever the case, football is a cool and exciting sport that all should have the chance to enjoy.
