The movie Swing kids
Yesterday, my family and I watched a movie for school called Swing Kids. It was a very serious and interesting movie. I could tell that a ton of people struggled and had a very hard time during these dark days in history. A lot of horrible and bad things happened in this movie, and I know a lot of that happened in real life. I also know that a lot of worse things happened too.

The movie is basically about this group of kids that are known as the swing kids during Hitler's reign in power. These friends do not like what Hitler and the Nazi's are doing.Sadly, one of the swing kids (Peter) steals a radio and is forced into Hitler youth. His friend that was also in the Swing Kids (Thomas) joined because that was his way of being a good friend and helping him go through the situation.

As the movie is going on, lots and lots of bad thinks are going on, like Hitler youth boys going and creating havoc against the Jews. One of Peter's and Thomas's friends, Arvid, kills himself because of all the things going on all around him. He didn't like being a voice not heard so that was his was of making a statement against the Nazi's. He is also frustrated because one of his closest friends (Thomas) is getting swayed by the Nazi's with all of his new things. Peter had been swayed back and forth between Swing Boy and Nazi but sided with the Swing Boys after going through many events which gave him a fresh and worse outlook on the Nazi's. Because of this, he was taken away to a concentration camp. One of the emotions that he showed which I really liked was the fact that he stayed calm throughout the event of him being taken away which is something I could never do.

Throughout all of this havoc and chaos, there were some main problems that really stood out like the problem of "What do you think Peter was thinking/feeling as he watched his friends change?" I know Peter had a lot of feelings going on at that point in time, mainly confusion and frustration at Thomas. Watching his best friend go from good to bad would be confusing and definitely frustrating. His emotions towards Arvid would be sad because watching his friend being alone and so frustrated that he died would definitely cause me a lot of grief.

Another main problem that stood out was why did Arvid kill himself? I think the reason Arvid killed himself was because he was done with seeing the Nazi's do what they were doing and not being able to stop it, especially since he had a clubbed foot. I would also want to prevent being swayed by the Nazi's, so killing yourself is a good way help that problem.

Thomas
One question that is a pretty hard one to answer would be the question "Do you think you is would I be more like Peter or more like Thomas?" Personally, I had a hard time deciding which one I would be more likely be. I think in the end I would probably end up being like Thomas, and not Peter. I would like to chose to be like Peter, but I don't really think I could do all the things that Peter did during all those hard times. I also think that getting all of that new stuff would be very tempting, so I would probably go along with the Nazi's.

In conclusion, this movie really helped show everyone who doesn't live in that dark period in history how a lot of people were affected by everything that was going on. I was amazed at how it wasn't just the Jew's that were greatly moved by Hitler's reign. This was a very good movie, and if you like serious and emotional movies that were in this time period, I would suggest this movie to you.
