Personal Confessions
I, Josiah Corey, Adhere and claim to these six personal confessions. These are the confessions that I want and need to implement into my life in order to live a successful and purposeful life for Christ. Here are my six confessions.
Confession #1 Becoming a leader in my life
I feel like one of the things I need to implement into my life is to become a leader. Being a leader is a very important skill to have, especially for the type of job I want to have when I get older. Being a leader has always been a flaw in my character, either because I didn’t take responsibility very mature-like, or sometimes I would shy away from the opportunity because it involved responsibility. This is a very important confession to me because I have realized that this confession will not only help me hopefully someday help have a career in Law Enforcement but that I could also use it for Christ. Philippians 2:3
Confession #2 Maturity
Maturity has been a very big weak spot in my character because I have practiced being immature for a very long time. I didn’t take serious things seriously and I behaved very immaturely. This all leads to me not being a very mature person. So to fix this, I plan to take and handle all things with a mature approach. 1 Corinthians 14:20
Confession #3 Being a better example
Being a better example is very important to me, especially for my younger siblings, August and Sophia. I wanted to target more August and Sophia because they do not have the father role model like my other siblings do. That is why it is more important to me to be a better role model and set a better example in front of August and Sophia. I know that I am not their father, but that doesn’t give me the excuse that I can't be their role model and a good example. That is why I will be a better example for my younger siblings. 1 Timothy 4:12
Confession #4 Having a better attitude towards things that I dislike
This confession is very convincing, seeing the fact that I run into this almost every day. There are many things that I am not very fond of like school and cotillion. These are the few things that I have a hard time having a good attitude towards simply because I don’t like it. But just because I don’t like it, doesn’t mean I can’t do it without a smile, doing it willingly, and putting effort into it. Jeremiah 29:11
Confession #5 Boldness for Christ
This is also another convicting subject that I face in life a lot, and that is not being bold for Christ. I think being bold for Christ can be in different ways like being outspoken towards your faith or when the opportunity arises you are not afraid to talk to people about Jesus. The reason why I shy away from this subject is the fear of being made fun of or being rejected because of what I believe in. Proverbs 28:1
Confession #6 Realizing the importance of reading the bible daily
I have heard that reading the bible daily helps you grow in your understanding of the Lord. Even looking through bible verses, the bible even says that it is very important. Isaiah 40:8 says “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God endures forever. That is why I will devote 15-30 minutes every day so that I can grow in my understanding of the Lord. Psalms 119:105
Josiah - I appreciate your transparency in writing these. The first step is seeing what needs to be changed. I have another verse you could use for #4 - Philippians 2:14-16 "Do everything without grumbling or arguing,so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain." I believe Pastor Jeff will be preaching on this Sunday. I will say to you what I put on Caleb's site - Begin all these with what Jonathan Edwards said when he made his 70 Resolutions: "Aware that I am unable to do anything without God’s help, I do pray that, by his grace, he will enable me to keep these Resolutions, so far as they are in line with his will, and that they will honor Christ."
ReplyDeleteApparently, Grammy said ALL THE THINGS! Si, this is my favorite thing that you have ever written. Not because it is perfectly executed, but because it is perfectly transparent. This is the most honest, and vulnerable thing you have shared (written or verbally). Thank you for that!
